Iowa weather seems to exist in two extremes: the bitter cold of winter and the sweltering heat of summer. We propose that during the few delicate weeks of Fall, when the temperature drops and the leaves warm the skies, we allow ourselves to slow down and bask in the season. Let’s read a book with the windows open, snacking on freshly baked scones under heavy knit blankets. We should dress our dogs in adorable vests, wrap ourselves in our softest scarves, and go for a stroll in the park. We must take pictures of every outfit, every orchard, every craft, every meal, every pie, every latte, and every leaf. Let’s embrace all things pumpkin, starting right here with our noble tribute to the season, Basic Batch.
